About AppicLab

A solo-creator toolyard of small, single-purpose web utilities — free to use, ad-free, and built in public.

Who is behind this

AppicLab is built and maintained by indigo.la.ringo, a solo designer-engineer based in Taiwan. The project started in 2025 as a place to ship small focused tools — kaomoji, a sourdough feeding calculator, a retirement planner, a color-contrast checker — without the overhead of a separate site per tool. Every tool here is something the creator either uses personally or built to scratch a specific itch shared with friends.

How the tools are built

Every tool is server-rendered and computes locally in your browser. Nothing you type into a calculator is sent to a backend — what you enter stays on your device. Where a tool cites methodology (the Trinity Study for the retirement calculator, the Machado 2009 color-blindness model for the contrast checker, WCAG 2.1 thresholds for accessibility) the source is linked from the tool page itself. When a methodology choice is opinionated, that opinion is documented in the FAQ.

Privacy

AppicLab does not run third-party analytics that profile you, does not show ads, and does not require an account to use any tool. Calculators run in your browser; the public APIs that power the kaomoji and map-collection directories return data only — they do not receive personal information. The site sets a single cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) to remember your language preference; no other tracking cookies are set.
