Taipei Must-Eat Food Guide|Threads' Worth-Eating-Again Taipei Restaurant List (With Map)
I've always felt that Taiwanese people have taken Threads to a whole new level. This time I came across a Taipei food list put together by someone in the community — from breakfast spots to bistros, from Asian to international cuisine: street food, hotpot, Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean, Italian, fusion — almost every type got thrown in. Worried the original might disappear, I went ahead and compiled it. Let's take a look at the community's Taipei food recommendations.
Many thanks again to this Threads post for sharing: original post
Taipei Seriously-Good Food Map
I plotted the places mentioned on Threads onto an interactive map — you can check rough locations, ratings, and Google Maps links right here:

How I Sorted This Round
The original post genuinely had too much content, so I kept just a few types of places first:
- restaurants the original poster mentioned themselves
- restaurants with high-liked comments
- restaurants with more discussion
My 3 Most Intriguing Picks From This List
With such a wide range of restaurants this time, I also picked out a few that were especially memorable — they'll probably be at the top of my must-visit list for the second half of this year.
1. Asylum|Taipei's now-closed mysterious braised pork rice
I noticed this one because quite a few people on Threads mentioned its braised pork rice — only to find out, after looking it up, that it's already gone for good. I'd just added it to my must-eat list: truly a case of just missing it, a moment too late. All I can do now is follow their Instagram, in case our paths cross again someday.
2. Fuxinyuan|the pickled-cabbage pork hotpot people want every month
The comment recommending this place racked up over two thousand likes — and beyond the pickled-cabbage pork hotpot, the stir-fries look strong too. It's already gone onto my shortlist for the next group meal.
3. Hi MATE|Aussie brunch with super-tender steak
Aussie-style brunch really has been showing up more and more these past few years. My old go-to was M One Cafe, but it keeps getting harder to book, and the prices have quietly crept up. I'm hoping this place's steak is tender and juicy — and something I can eat often (please don't hike the prices too fast, Q_Q).
The One I Most Want to Eat Right Now
Honestly, the one that ended up tempting me most was Xihu Seafood (西湖水產). Some things come in such large portions that you have to round up a group, which is a bit of a hassle — but this place looks not only affordable but also super convenient to get to. It feels like the kind of spot you could just dash to straight after work — perfect for a solo Wednesday night when you suddenly crave something good.
If you have your own Taipei food list, or a long-held secret favorite, feel free to share — let's all be Taipei foodies together. 😎
Frequently asked questions
How was this Taipei food list filtered?
The original Threads post had a huge amount of content, so I kept three kinds of places first: restaurants the original poster mentioned themselves, restaurants with high-liked comments, and restaurants with more discussion — then sorted them by category.
What food types does this list cover?
Lots of variety: breakfast/brunch, hotpot, Japanese/sushi, international cuisine, Taiwanese street food, and bistros — basically everything from breakfast to late-night, and from Asian to international food.
Any recommendations that are easy to eat at solo?
Xihu Seafood (西湖水產) is great for one. Seafood often comes in large portions that are only worth it as a group, but this place is affordable and conveniently located — the kind of spot you can hit straight after work on a weekday, even on your own.
